Chapter 5: Christopher Hitchens

Chapter 5: Christoper Hitchens When making criticisms about anything in the world, it is important to come at the subject from many points of view. If one is going to make statements criticizing the conspiracy theorism of Alex Jones, it is also fair to do segments on individuals such as Christopher Hitchens, Noam Chomsky, and Lyndon LaRouche. Once again it is very difficult to make critical statements about the work of individuals like Hitchens. Similar feelings might be found in the chapter on Milo Yiannopoulos. Christopher Hitchens was and still is a man of great popularity. He has an enormous following that still holds his work in a high regard. However, once again there must be a certain degree of evaluation that comes to anyone in his line of work. In his later years, Hitchens became famous for his work on Atheism, or his particular brand, Anti-Theism. As he said in a blunt manner on Sean Hannity's Sunday show, Hannity's America. I'm an Anti-Theist. I think Rel...

Chapter 4: The Sports Industrial Complex

Debunking is a difficult standpoint to take on anything. James Randi, founder of the James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF), exposed the fraudulent activities of many individuals pretending to have psychic powers and even to this day the JREF has a million dollar prize for anyone who can display an honest feat of psychic power, yet Randi was very precise. He stated that he was not a debunker, he was an investigator. Therefore, it is tempting to write debunking pieces on many of these conspiracy theories, yet perhaps when it comes to something such as the Sports-Industrial Complex, it will take the form of an alternative stance. The Sports-Industrial Complex is a block of theories that contains the following tenets. 1. Professional sports exist to distract the general public away from other worldly issues. 2. Prior to the invention of television sports were primarily for children, not adults. and 3. Professional athletes are paid an enormous amount to fund this giant circus-...

Chapter 3: Milo Yiannopolous

What is Milo Yiannapolous doing in a segment about conspiracy theories? For the purpose of this book, conspiracy theories are defined as two or more people hiding the truth, usually for a malicious reason. Let's refer to him as Milo throughout this chapter, as his last name takes too long to type. 2017 saw a massive and meteoric rise for Milo. A former journalist in the tech section of various online media platforms, was catapulted to the top of America's commentary elite. Elite in the sense that he received an enormous amount of popularity. On to the conspiracy theory: the following will argue that Milo does not believe most of what he says. His sole function in any of this (other than increasing his own wealth and attention) was to improve the rights of homosexuals, particularly in the conservative circles and in the American Republican party. All the statements on feminism and Black Lives Matter and many about Muslim Americans are not relevant to anything Milo actuall...

Conspiracy Theory Commentary

This Part is Continued in Chapter 1: This book is available for free online. One of the largest reasons is that commentary is important. The academic circles often have a tendancy to marginalize new and innovate ideas, not because they lack citations or thoroughness, but simply because the other academics are not familiar with them. They also refuse to explore certain subjects because of controversial material, apathy, laziness, or simply because they are more consumed with their other academic tasks, such as classes and organizing their memo pads. It comes to a point where we need commentary. We need to hear the voices who are making observations of modern culture and the nation around us. People who are observing what they find on the internet as well as from the vast cycles of books that come in and out of circulation every year. Some of it is opinion, but when dealing with a subject such as conspiracy theory, as well as the skeptics attempting to counter it, opinion and viewp...

Alex Jones: White Supremacist Propaganda

This part is continued in Chapter 1 on Alex Jones Alex Jones might not be a White Supremacist himself. However, he most definitely caters to his audience. One of his most powerful recruiting tools and methods to increase viewership comes from heavily-veiled usage of racism. Some sociologists might call this timid bigotry: have bigoted or prejudicial feelings but not directly voicing and acting on them. Others might call it just stirring the pot to get the racists riled up. It should be noted that not every listener of the Alex Jones Show is a racist, nor is everyone who reads Infowars material a racist, but what is evident is the usage of racist and/or white supremacist material in the Infowars platform. Alex Jones has made the statement "The Answer to 1984 is 1776" multiple times. It exists all across his youtube videos and Infowars.com. What this fails to address is that in 1776, slavery still existed as a practice in America. The Civil War had not been fought yet, an...

Chapter 2: 9/11 Truth

Chapter 2: 9/11 Truth One of the largest conspiracy theories out there is 9/11 Truth. It is important to remember that 9/11 Truth is not a single statement. It is a wide range of viewpoints, possibilities, accusations, and theories. The mainstream media often tries to reduce this down to a single statement, such as "9/11 Was an Inside Job." However, that is not a very clear representation of the entire 9/11 Truth movement. Mainstream news outlets such as Fox News and CNN attempt to compile all aspects of the 9/11 Truth movement into the category of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney planning 9/11 and orchestrating the events themselves. In reality, this is a gross exaggeration of what the 9/11 Truth movement is all about. There are those who propose that the government had prior knowledge as to what was going to happen on 9/11 and did not act either out of incompetence or opportunism. Then, there are those who say that the government intentionally told other agencies such as ...

Chapter 1: Alex Jones and Infowars

The name, Alex Jones, has become attached to the conspiracy theory culture. He has made a lot of money off of this subject, and there is no reason to dance around the heart of this chapter. It is my firm belief that Alex Jones is being dishonest and that he fabricates his material for profit and for attention. Jones is the creator of Infowars.com, a website which claims that by joining the war on information you are becoming a patriot and warrior against tyranny because you are educating yourself against the inhumane actions of globalists and the New World Order. Just by watching an infowars video, you've already transformed yourself into a soldier of the mind. Sure makes life more entertaining. However, when it comes to someone of Jones' popularity level, they need to be placed under the microscope and let's learn what they are really about and how they deliver their presentation to the audience. Alex Jones uses two major methods for fabricating his material. 1) Mi...

Introduction is Available.

The introduction is now available. The chapters of this book will be posted in the news feed as well as listed in permanent pages on the top bar. "Conspiracy Theory Slaying: A Challenge to the Theorists and the Skeptics." The literary theorist, Walter Benjamin, once wrote that writers write because they are not satisfied with the current the work of other writers. Perhaps this is a statement that is too simple and does not cover all the bases. Writers can write for a variety of reasons, including for entertainment and just as as something to pass the time. As the years have gone by, I found that there is a large degree in truth Benjamin's statement all the same. The motivation behind this book came from exploring the works of other writers on conspiracy theories. Writers such as Michael Shermer, Michael Barkun, Daniel Pipes, Jonathan Kay, and Jesse Walker all try to address the concept of conspiracy theories from both the social science and even hard science perspe...
